ONION RINGS AND BREADED SAUSAGE WITH SPICY MAYO DIP



            I saw this kind of dish in an English magazine and they used it for dinner party with friends. There was once that my nephew was hungry after his school hours and we are alone at home. I'll check our food storage to view the available ingredients to cooked for him and I saw 5 pcs. of large white onion and 3 pcs. of sausages and I'll remember the onion rings that I read yesterday in my cooking magazine.
           Filipino dish have used different kinds of spices and the most commonly use is the onion. The onion has it aroma fragrant, a little bit bitter and sweet. Some people when they chopped onion they have their tears on their eyes because of the smell of the onion. I still remember my 5 y/o niece when she saw me chopping the onion while I preparing our lunch and she said " Tito..bakit ka umiiyak? dahil ba naawa ka sa sibuyas (onion)..?" and I laugh a lot when she asked that.
            In the Philippines, If im not mistaken we have 3 kinds of onion the large violet, the small one and the Large white.
             In this recipe if you don't have available sausages, you can use hotdog as alternative or the longganisa if you want. In terms of sausages, the popular known person who love the sausages are the european. Here in the Philippines the most popular are the hotdog and the longganisa. Some of my future post in this blog,  I post the specialty Longganisa in our nearby town to see it just for you to have your idea in seeing the one of the best longganisa of the Philippines.
            I recommend this recipe for you guys who loved to have a party at home for your pulutan and to those moms, I recommend this as snack for your kids. Enjoy..!! Happy Eating..!!!

ONION RINGS AND BREADED SAUSAGE WITH SPICY MAYO DIP

SERVING: 3 Person
COOKING TIME: 15 mins.
ESTIMATED COST: P70-P80

INGREDIENTS

3 Large White Onion cut into Rings
4 Sausages cut into lengthwise
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
1/2 cup Flour
1 Egg Beaten
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
Pinch of Salt and Pepper
Oil for Frying

For the Dip:

2 Tbsp. Mayonaise
1 tsp. Hot Sauce (Use Catsup as option if you cook this for your kids)
Salt and Pepper
1 tsp. Sugar
1 tsp. Garlic Powder

PROCEDURE

         Pre-heat the frying pan and pour the oil.Start breading procedure, add the garlic powder, salt and pepper to the flour and mixed. Always remember the procedure of breading sequence which is FEB or known as Flour+Egg+Breadcrumbs. Start breading by dipping the onions and sausages in your flour mixture then to the egg then to the breadcrumbs and repeat this procedure twice. Fry the onion and sausages in batch and my cooking tips while you frying is to slow the fire of the pan to avoid any unfavorable texture of your food. Meanwhile in a small bowl, mixed all the ingredients for the spicy dip and set aside. When you finish frying, in a plate put a clean bond paper or tissue paper to absorb the oil of the food to eliminate the oily taste of the food. Served this and Enjoy Eating..!!
